Sunday 1st November

Cork and Leopardstown off
Rowan

Darn, you beat me to a "Stormy Sunday" post!

It's absolutely horrible here.

RP Live Report, Carlisle:

Quote:
09:50 The rain is refusing to stop and the ground is now officially described as good to soft, soft down the hill, with the GoingStick reading changed from 7.5 to 6.8,

Huntingdon:
Quote:
8:44 The deluge comes

The rain started at around 7.30am and has taken all the firmness out of the ground, leaving it good all round with the rain still falling.

I'm supposed to be cycling... Not gonna happen

As the Irish racing is off I have had a look at the 2 big handicaps here and come up with

3:15 Carl
Reel Charmer-seems very well in on his hcp hurdle ratings and is getting better everytime he goes chasing.

4:00 Hunt
Compton Star- won over C&D 2 years ago and is now well down from that rating and has had both runs on firmer ground this season so could bounce back with the ground softening all the time
YAIYAM

Over the last 30 minutes there has been a massive gamble on Reel Charmer, not one bookie was going less than 11/1 and the best price was 14/1 half hour ago now best price is 9/1 with some in to as short as 7/1.

This obviously happens but not during such a short period of time halfway through the day seems very odd to me.

Nice one. Hope I havn't put the kiss of death on it but I just backed CS in my eachway patent to give a bit of interest on this miserable Sunday afternoon!

Ground looks desperate at Carlisle.  Might have a speculative punt on Teeming Rain in the 3:15.  All his wins have come on soft or heavy and has won over 3m6f on soft ground in this class so is one of a few that is guaranteed to get the trip on the ground.  28/1 looks big.

Blimey it is lay the favourite day today only one has gone in so far.

Jan Vermeer looked impressive to me :-

The favourite probably didn't go on the ground.

Even point to points off here today - takes a lot to do that...

Jim Best runs two in the 4.00 at Huntingdon. I have backed Calzaghe but wont be suprised if the outsider of the two wins. Watch the late betting as this is Norman Beckets first run for the stable.
theGoingStick

Great race at Huntingdon there.
YAIYAM

Reel Charmer has lost all its appeal as a TBP bet at the prices now so I have taken a chance with TOT O´WHISKEY @ 3/1+ as he has some pretty decent form in graded events last year, seems to run his best races at this time of year & won a Novice chase over 25F on heavy ground on this course so with only 14 runners left looks a very good bet to grab a top 4 spot.

Sherwoods folly should go well, looks a weak race and he should be right there at the death.
