Hi - does anyone have the semi-final draws for the Classic and Grand Prix which I believe are due to be run at Sunderland on Saturday, with the finals live on Sky next Thursday.
Following the heats which were run on 28th June, I do like the look of lenson express (The Classic). Having his 1st run since falling in the Derby Final, he ran one of the fastest times in the heats despite race comments of Crd 1,2 & 3. Should also improve for the fun after a month off. Ninja Jamie looks in good form and did brilliantly to qualify after being badly hampered at the 2nd bend. i don't know what the prices are for these 2, but would think Lenson express will be a big price
Cheers
Mikey

William Hill Classic
- I'm going to start by saying, I think Ninja Jamie is the fastest dog in the competition, but once again he has been handed a hugely unfavourable draw (T5) in what looks like a very competitive heat. He has fast starters in the form of Me Buddy (who also wants the rails) and Kryptonite on his inner and will probably require a clean race to progress, with 5 inside runners in the same heat this may not be the case. Droopy's Wells is running back into form, he has a great draw and he may go through at the expense of one of the more fancied runners with trouble on his inner. The bet I would take from this race is to LAY Kryptonite in the outright market. 3/1 is way to short. Yes, the heat was his first run since Derby and he has the 1 box, but he had a trouble free run in the semis and only clocked 27.36, a time bettered by 10 of his fellow qualifiers.
- In heat 2, the make up of the race again suggests there could be carnage at the first bend. Westmead Lord may well be the cause, as he is drawn in T3. For this reason Lenson Express and Droopy's Sheary have a great chance to qualify. Droopy's Shearys is a bit short in the outright market, so I'm going to back Lenson Express to win outright at (25's +). As I mentioned previously, he clocked an impressive time in the heats despite being crowded at bends 1,2 and 4 and a month off should also mean he will improve for the run. The win market for this race is likely to be tight, but potentially headed by Droopy's Sheary and Toosey Blue. The latter recorded a pedestrian 27.46 without any trouble in his heat, so he would have to be a LAY in this Semi.
- Heat 3 looks the weakest of the 3 semi-finals, and none of the contenders look capable of winning the competition outright, Kilkenny Lonjack may well start favourite and I think he will struggle to win, Seanies Lad ran a nice heat, his time was ok despite some crowding and if you can steal a big price on the outright market, he should provide a good back to lay opportunity.

Mikey many of these run well for a long way during the Derby, so all three races are tough. Ninja jamie is my pick for the forthcoming Irish Derby, but i agree he needs to break well to qualify. I can see Toosey Blue winning the second semi, although there may well be trouble as you say, with 4 wide runners. In the third heat i wouldnt rush to lay Kilkenny Lonjack, he was second in the Arc at Walthamstow and posted good times at Hove and Wimbledon, he also won his first heat in the Derby in just a few spots slower than the final. he can miss the break, but is powerful and i am conviced he will become a star.
Nice write up and good luck with your bets.
Mikey
Cheers Alan - seems like we are in total disagreement about this race, but thats what makes it so interesting.
On Ninja Jamie, I have followed you in for the Irish Derby based on your earlier post and managed to get a few quid matched at 85's...fingers crossed

Ninja Jamie has been withdrawn Mikey, im not sure why. Lets just hope he is fully fit in a months time.

Mikey superb tipping, Kryptonite out already. Lenson Express won in the fastest time of the night, beating Droopys Sheehey. The time was 27.27 14 spots faster than Me Buddy and way quicker than Bower keane, who won the other heats. Toosey Blue was bumped out of it, you were spot on about heat two. Kilkenny Lonjack got beaten into second, once again you were right.
You know i am on Kilkenny Lonjack for the final but good luck with Lenson Express, much depends on the draw.
Mikey
Thanks again Alan - it's nice when the analysis pays off for a change.
Lenson Express is drawn in 1, so definitely has a chance and now trading at 4.0, 2nd favorite to Me Buddy. Me Buddy is drawn 3 and is likely to dive for the rail so there could be a bit of trouble.
On Ninja Jamie, I haven't heard any news, but I'm hoping it was down to the poor draw and not wanting to risk him from T5 before the Irish Derby, fingers crossed.
Been a good week all round on the dog front, as my own greyhound also won today, hope it continues for Thursday.....................

Mikey it must be great to won a winning dog. I agree that Lenson Express is well drawn and has a good chance on Thursday. He needs to be clear at the bend.
Ninja Jamie was withdrawn lame so hopefully he will be fully fit quickly.
