Super 6s snooker

Going to change the rules of snooker and have a super6 tournament ,something like the twenty twenty cricket ,only 6 reds ,world trials later this month ,anyone know about it?
Machiavellian

Like 20/20 Cricket. Snooker for people who don't like Snooker. Great.

When I read that they were trialling it at the World Championships I nearly had a coronary.  After reading on however, I found out that they're just having 1 test game between a "legends" and a "rising stars" team.  If it gets more people interested in the sport then brilliant I'm all for it, but if they decide to change the format of the well-established tournaments at any point, I'll kick up major fuss (not that my opinion counts for much!).

This is an abomonation(as is 20/20 by the way). neither snooker, nor cricket needs to get more fans. Cricket is the most popular sport in Australia, the most sports mad nation on earth. It is also a religion in India and Pakistan. Snooker(back on topic) is the fastest growing sport in the far east and due to the siccess of Ding Junhui, is watched by a staggering amount of people in China and other countries. I really don't see why it needs more fans and if it does, then changing the whole game is not the answer

It needs more fans purely to make more (or any) profit in Britain - simple as that.

How is this ridiculous farce going to do that? If you like snooker, you like snooker. If you don't like snooker, you won't change your mind just because the games are shorter.

Not saying it'll work.  Just pointing out that the sole reason they are suggesting it is a money making scheme.  Personally, think it's a pathetic idea.  It's like introducng a whole new sport.

No harm in trying something new, it's not interfering with any of the established matches, if it works then brilliant, if not then no harm done.  I don't see the problem.

Fair point Sky but I would disagree that snoker needs more fans. It just needs the fans it has already got to come back to the sport(it used to be one of the most popular sports in the country and we're not talking very long ago). I don't know why these people have stopped following the sport, but this idea certainly won't bring them back that's for sure.
