THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Just two weeks away ,Harrington going for a hat trick of wins ,warms up by missing his fifth cut on the bounce yesterday
ngreggors

Hopefully there will be some value on him missing the cut like the 3/1 I got for the US Open

Are you extracting urine totesport ,advert in todays racing post.
If Harrington wins the 2009 open we will pay EIGHT places!
Wow what an offer .a similiar offer should if the pope dosent pray today ,we will offer you eight places.

Tiger drawn with Lee Westwood for the first two rounds ,interesting.
value seeker

When Jeremy Chapmans puts up his tips on Wednesday in the racing post ,you can guarantee that if he picks one of yours ,the price will go down faster than Andy Johnson did in the penalty area ,when he played for Everton.
Tiger of course should win, followed him at Hoylake when he started his round on the opening day ,he bogied the first and then never had another bogey in the next 71 holes winning easing up.
Links golf suits the Tiger but as my name is value seeker 2/1 is not for me and I will  look else were.
Lee Westwood has been drawn with Tiger ,that will help me more than hinder him.He has come in to a bit of form, losing in a play off ,then just out the top5 at the Scottish open,he has to be considered.
Jim Furyk has been knocking at the door a lot lately but no one is answering ,its been a few years since he entered the winners enclosure but he is too good a player not to be in the winners circle for so long and at 35/1 is real value.
Hunter Mahon has been ultra consistant of late and is capable of shooting low in the sixties ,not known over here too much ,but feel that might change by Sunday night and expect him to be thereabouts.

I concur....have taken him at 129/1 on Betfair and 100's at the bookies. His stats make him a fairly solid paly here. Seems to find the fairways, and consistently scores well. A big price

Anyone doing the markets without Tiger be careful.....this is often only top 5 e/w which in effect is top 6 assuming Tiger is up there. The only way this market will work out better for your returns is if you come second to Tiger. Any other top finish and you have reduced odds and reduced placed opportunites.

Phone and on line only until Midnight!

Just tried to place an e/w treble on the Open markets with Hills. They refused to take the bet. Makes you wonder whether they understand their own business. My selections were:

Brian Gay - Outright
Adam Scott - 1st Round Leader
Robert Rock - Top Englishman

Neither of these selections act in a way that makes the outcome of the other selections more probable...in fact the opposite effect come into play, yet Hills don't seem to comprehend this.

I should have been given enhanced odds rather than being turned down

A couple of EW bets for me on some old favourites

Steve Stricker @ 40/1
Justin Leonard @ 100/1

Both with Boylesports of course.

Also done a couple of Paul the other one bets for Top 20

Goydos @ 11/1
Broadhurst @ 16/1

Both of these were best with good old Stan James.
Owl of Minerva

Two e/w bets for me - both with Boylesports 1/4 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

Martin Kaymer @ 40/1
Geoff Ogilvy @ 45/1
ngreggors

Gone for a scatter gun approach this year. All e/w with Boyle Sports or Paddy Power, 8 & 7 places paid.

Gay 80/1
O'Hair 66/1
R Fisher 33/1
Stenson 30/1
& P Hanson 200/1

All bets will be paid for if Harrington misses the cut.

Good luck eveyone.

Fancy Furyk to win his threeball today against Harrington and Ogilvy, tee off 2.20.
The way Harrington is playing its just a two ball imo so the 7/4 isreal value
suggested bet
3pts Furyk to win threeball ,7/4 baldfred, ladcrookes and blue square.
value seeker

west wood -3 after just three holes ,has flew out the traps
glennie1970

I have gone with the following;

Kaymer @ 40/1 Boylesports
Els @ 50/1 PP
Adam Scott @ 50/1 Boylesports
Anders Hansen @ 200/1 Boylesports
Jim Furyk @ 28/1 Boylesports

all bets EW
L.C.

Dont usually bet on the golf, but the Boylesports offer seemed too decent to not touch.

Anyway, turns out i had £10 in free bets to use, so plumped for £2.50 e/w on:

Brian Gay 80/1
Boo Weekley 200/1

If they make the cut and give me an interest for the weekend, i'll be happy

Cheers

Im on the gay bandwagon, and I said beforehand aslong as he's in the top 110 after today i'll be happy. Its looking good so far

On another note, me and two lads in work thought we'd have a bet and one of the lads who knows nothing about sport just picked a random player... Ben Curtis. Throw those formbooks out the window.

Quite satisfied with start .westwood flew out the traps and was able to quickly get my stake back with four straight birdies ,furyk I feel will go mighty close ,Hunter Mahon was a disapointment ,but could still make the weekend.
Even thought Watson had a great first day,Lehman is well there to be top senior and land my biggest stake.

Why is Woods so short in the betting compared to Jimenez ? It isnt as if there is only a few shots difference.

Yet again Woods drifts after the first day of a major, he almost always does and must surely rank as the best lay to back bet around.

If you told me that going into the last day ,I would have had fourth and sixth and Tiger Woods was on a plane home ,I would have bit your hand off for it.
Feel Watson will do a Greg Norman last year and just come up short ,bit worried about Ross Fisher though.
Goosen though a major winner has been recently falling apart on Sundays , hope he does tommorrow .Ask me how Furyk played today and I wouldnt be able to tell you.
Jim has been the forgotten man on the TV coverage from the BBC and we hardly seen a shot from him today ,once the leaders went out.
Think maybe the MAN THE bbc forgot , can win tommorrow ,hoping for a 1-2  with Westwood and Furyk that will help the old bank balance

very unfortunate on 18

knocked the stuffing out of him, in truth and the putt he missed to go into the play off was a tired one

well played cink; the open is, as ever, won by the man who overall played the best golf, simple as that.

Typically, even with e/w going to 8 places, my bet comes up 1 shot short of getting me a return.

They could have gone e/w 100 places and he would probably have finished 101st!

Unlucky with the bet LC. I thought Cink played really well, he is a great golfer who often seems close but no cigar. His shot to make the playoff was brilliant, considering the pressure. Watson deserves all the credit for his efforts, it was a shame he fell apart in the playoff.

Ross Fisher has clearly been watching me struggle out the rough.
Despite not even getting each way money, at least it has shown that a quadruple bogey is gettable not just by us Saturday morning hackers, but by the pros too!!
