The Oaks looks like a really tough race to solve but I think there is one horse that stands out at the prices. John Gosden's Michita had shown nothing to suggest she was a classic contender prior to her romp in the Oaks trial at Goodwood recently but I was really taken by that win. The way she travelled all over some useful horses before storming home when asked to quicken was very impressive. It may not have been the strongest race in the world but she couldn't have won any more easily and the further she went the more powerful she looked, and she passed the post over 4 lengths clear absolutely full of running. It's also worth noting that her Goodwood win earned a decent speed figure meaning that, according to topspeed, she ran the fastest trial. I am sure the step up to 1m4f will see her in an even better light. She is a big imposing filly who we can also be fairly sure will handle the track (Goodwood being similar to Epsom) and the ground looks perfect. She is getting backed all the time but I still think the 10/1 is worth taking.
The list of possible dangers is endless, obviously headed up by the favourite Lush Lashes. She was very impressive at York and she should stay. Some are concerned about the track for her due to the way she seemed to become unbalanced in the dip at Newmarket, but that could just as easily have been a case of being badly outpaced going downhill at 1m speed. At 1m4f pace on slower ground she may well be fine, but it still has to be something of a concern. However at 7/2 she is a fair price now and I wouldn't put anyone off having a saver on her. I also really like Adored and have backed her antepost but I don't like the vibes for her as she has been very weak on the exchanges since last night and is drifting this morning. An interesting contender at a massive price (top price 50/1) is Savethisdanceforme, who has many half siblings who relished a trip. She hasn't shown much in the English or Irish Guineas but the step up to 1m4f could transform her.
All in all, however, I think that Michita is the best proposition at the prices and I can't see her running anything other than a massive race.
