firstly, BHL is bound to be upset that geordie posted what he did, given his personal link to hillsborough which he described in his post. the fact the post wasn't removed is what gives the impression of inconsistent moderating as alot less inflamatory posts have caused alot more fuss in the past.

to tell him to get lost when he responds to that kind of disgusting comment is beyond harsh, irrespective of what has gone before.

secondly, geordie swore at papa.

thirdly, to accuse everyone of being childish etc when a thread is ruined by one person posting a moronic comment deliberately aimed at stoking people up (if he didn't know what he was writing was inflamatory he wouldn't be bright enough to use a keyboard) is unfair.

that was the worst post i've seen on this board and other people are being punished for it. and i'm posting here instead of privately because it's not on and other people need to know it's not on.

I have to agree with AJ, BHL may have had warnings in the past, the same as others who are still here, and some are not. But as regards the questionable thread, which started December 3rd 07, I did not post until January 2nd 08, and then next on November 4th 08. At no time did I use unreasonable language, you, Jenny, had already warned me about certain expressions, not deletives, but posh words for them, so I stopped. When outrageous links are made in threads then forumites have a right to answer them without fear of reproach, as long as the forum guidelines are not broken. I would ask that BHL and yourself reconsider and retract and let us get on with the best forum that I know of.

Yikes, missed a big un there.. I agree with AJ though, providing BHL's previous 'offences' were not exactly major, telling him to get lost is rather inappropriate. He was incited into his reaction and I believe that needs to be considered.

Accajacca - I'm sorry you feel our moderation is inconsistant. I agree somethings can get past us and we may mod things other people find acceptable.

As we've said loads of times, we all do this in our spare time, we cannot all be here all the time and we can't read everything before everyone else does. Because of this we cannot get everything right and we can't please everyone all the time.

Looking back, i feel really sorry for BHL and Jenny getting involved in what was a spat between Geordie, Papa and Myself.
I hold me hands up to teasing and baiting Geordie about Barton but didnt think it crossed the line until one particular post.
That is obviously when Jenny stepped in to try and cool it, obviously BHL got upset with the comments made and then the thread was locked.
I certainly regret what i posted now as i didnt forsee what would happen and only thought it was a good, strong bit of banter.
I offer my apolgies to BHL and Jenny because it wasnt fair on them getting dragged in to a bit of childish 'my dads bigger than your dad' sledging, that went too far as everyone can see.

I think that's an honest summation of what went on MT and would hope that some of the others involved would feel/express likewise.

I follow football quite closely, but I am not a club supporter and for someone like myself a thread like that frankly beggars belief at times. I understand supporters passions (I live with a fan and boy we have some big outbursts) but there are ways of expressing strong views without crossing lines that you all are intelligent enough to negotiate. It's is disappointing and tiresome that mods and other posters get caught in the crossfire. Save it for the chants!

Anyway this post is not actually directed at you exclusively since you have been big enough to put your hands up

MTV thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated. I fully agree with you that Jenny and BHL got caught up in someone elses games.

The problem with baiting is this ; If we let it run, it gets out of hand and we are told we are too lenient ; If we clamp down we are told we are too strict. Either way mods and admin are in a no win situation.

I'm very disappointed that the Admin and Mods team have been criticised here. We CANNOT moderate this forum 24 hours a day and sometimes things are going to slip under the radar.

Please remember that ALL Mods & Admin are volunteers and we do our best all of the time. I would like to again personally thank all the Mods & Admins as they put a hell of a lot of work into running this forum and continue to do so without my help recently, as a recent addition to my family has made it very difficult to get on here as much as I would like.

I've re-read it Papa and see the post you refer to - I thought you meant that you were sorry that you were not easily incited.

I still don't understand why supporting one team needs to involve slating anothers fans and views so roundly and in such a partisan fashion. Robust and honest debate yes, slagging and unkindness (on here) definitely no.
