saha [given away by souness], bellamy [ditto] milner [allardyce] and even litle mickey owen [parasite].
if we'd kept the first 3 instead of pouring cash into the las named we wouldnt be where ew are today.

true but crewe are a find,develop,sell club
n-one had heard of saha when we got him from metz, milner and bellamy wre oing nowhere when we brought them in

C'mon GR, you can dress it up how ever you like but Newcastle are not in a unique postion with this happening at lots of clubs.
As for Bellamy, he'd been tranferred for millions before he got to you so it wasn't exactly a find an unknown despite being at an un fashionable club.
As for Saha...... I didn't even realise he'd been at Newcastle and when I checked it was only on loan. You shoulda bought him!

Just a guess here, and I will get off the fence with this, but I think Geordie may have been joking and is fully aware Newcastle were relegated.

Re Saha.....I am not sure how anyone can "give away for nothing" a player on loan. If Saha made a name for himself anywhere it was at Fulham.
As for Gullit, wasnt he "That other oaf" that got you to Wembley in his first season as manager ?

we had an option on saha and many of us were astonished when the decision was taken not to buy him.
gullit got us there with dalglish's team; KD had bought some good players for us (midfiled trio of salano, hamman and speed....). it took gullit a while to drop shearer, buy a pile of donkeys and get right up everyones nose.
