Threat to Kill Conduit

Quote:
Man charged over threats to kill Conduit

CONDUIT, winner of the Breeders' Cup Turf and Ladbrokes St Leger last year, was allegedly the subject of threats via text and email from a blackmailer threatening to kill the horse if it ran in this summer's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

The four-year-old won the race, but Peter Reynolds, general manager of Ballymacoll Stud, who own the horse, was contacted in the days prior to the contest, when the the threats were made, the Guardian newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Reynolds subsequently contacted the police and trainer Sir Michael Stoute worked with the integrity department of the BHA in the build-up to the race to ensure the safety of Conduit, who received extra security on his journeyto, and when stabled at the racecourse.

An investigation followed between Suffolk and Greater Manchester police forces, leading to the arrest and charging of Andrew Rodgerson, 26, of Rochdale. Rodgerson is due to appear in Bolton crown court on December 1.

Reynolds, quoted on the Guardian's website, said: "I can confirm that a threat was made to me and the matter was placed in the hands of the police."

I really don't know what would motivate someone to make this kind of threat ?

Obviously had a chunk ante-post on Tartan Bearer and knew it had no chance against the almighty CONDUIT. Just goes to show what a streak of urine bunch of cowardly cretins there are out there. Lock him up, scum.
Machiavellian

There was a story on 5 Live recently about Histon Football Club. Talking of a match last season in the Blue Square Premier during which, the chairman of as well as club staff recieved threats saying that their lives would be in danger should their team not win a match. The situation escalated to the extent that a member of staff had to be evacuated from her home by police due to threats made to her person and property.

I belive a man from somewhere in the North of England has been charged in relation to the case and the legal process is currently taking place.

Such instances really are shocking.

On an unrelated matter, at a Cardiff City academy fixture recently, where both under 18 and under 16 teams play matches against other acadmies, a man and a woman of east asian origin were removed from the club's training ground due to suspicions that they were relaying commentary on a phone in order to facilitate gambling on these youth games in the far east. The mind really does boggle.

Glad they caught him and agree with the view that he needs locked up but on the funny side you have to question the brains of some people...

He sent texts and e-mails - in this day and age does anyone still think that these things don't leave a easy to follow trail!!

If it was the case he was trying to prevent the horse from running in order to make a lot of money you'd think he'd have the savvy to invest in untraceable equipment

next we'll probably be told he used his home PC and his own mobile - Halfwit !!!
