Tuesday 3 NovemberWilliam Hill Gold Cup at Exeter.
Will Nacarat compensate for the disappointment of Tartak the other week? Ruby is stood down for a few days so Noel Fehily rides Twist Magic.
I have a fondness for Panjo Bere and I'msingingtheblues.

thats 4 out of nine are you backing them all
oh crick is interesting, but a bit of a skinny price. Nacarat prefers flat tracks i think....? maybe same for planet of sound, who is great at newbury but has not made the same impact at stiffer/undulating tracks (third in the arkle is not bad though i suppose )
ashley brook e/w could be a decent shout. only 1lb higher than when he won this last year and is always best 1st time out....
also looking closely at the two Charlie Mann runners out tomorrow. Watamu Bay in the first and Borero in the 3m hcap chase both got big chances.

Hmmm, have been out of play for a bit, and likely to be so again soon. But I'd have a bit on Panjo Bere e/w if asked nicely!

Haldon Gold Cup - Exeter (Keep it simple)
MAHOGANY BLAZE - EW @ 7/1
+ Trainer in form;
+ Trained specifically for the race;
+ Second favourite for the race last year, actually gets in the handicap proper this time;
+ Impressive performances on Season Reappearances in past, produces his best run of the season when first time out and fresh;
+ Course and distance form;
+ Other horses may have other targets, e.g. King George;
+ Any ground is suitable;
+ Very good jumper;
+ Numerous confirmed front runners should set a good pace for him to settle and chase;
+- Is not associated with last seasons Arkle form;
- Doesn't look exceptionally well handicapped but then neither does any other horse in the race;
= I can only see him out of the first three if he makes uncharacteristic jumping errors.
Planet of Sound appears the main danger but I'm not sure about the early season form of Hobbs' chasers and he is prone to jumping errors which would be fully exposed around Exeter.
Regards and best of luck to all.

Chabal has clearly knocked all the wind out of my end of season sails, it didn't even register that this race was on this morning. For the last few years I've done all nighters to watch the racing.
Crime Scene second, he's a bit ..erm average.

There's been alot of rain at Exeter so it will be very testing!
I've gone for Nacarat in the Haldon hopefully he will be fit enough & on some of last seasons form he should be good enough.
I fancy Dee Ee Williams in the 3.30. Hopefully Present M'Lord will keep the Alner winning run going (they had a winner at Kempton yesterday).
At 14/1 or thereabouts Tarateeno looks a decent E/W bet in the last. At least he has some form on soft ground. I see Donald McCain has one in this & he doen't send many to Exeter so might be one to keep an eye on.

I've hd a look at Exeter too - decent card and the going will definitely test them! (We have had hail, wind and pouring rain at intervals for the past 2 days).
In the 1400, I'm wavering between Fire Within and Moleskin, both with trainers (Tom George and Vic Dartnall) quite capable of pulling rabbits out of hats at this meeting. Fire Within doesn't have much of a record, admittedly, but is decently bred. Moleskin was 3rd at Wincanton last time out on heavy (could be important!) Dartnall is usually on form at this time of year and I always keep an eye on his runners at West Country tracks. He's (the horse, not Dartnall!) out of a Strong Gale mare, so has jumping credentials.
1500: I've already backed Panjo Bere each way at a price. He's off a light weight, and his last run was in the Arkle, where he was clearly outclassed. However, he has won a Class 1 Novice Chase at Newbury, which admittedly is a flatter course than Exeter. Nacarat also appeals.
1600: Dartnall has two runners in this, and I have backed both (on the second string theory!), Richard's Sundance has won over the course, but this is further. Dancing Mist won at Perth last time out last season, and should be considered for an e/w. Kennel Hill of Keith Goldsworthy (who did me a big favour at Ffos Las in the bumper where his runner won at very decent odds) is another (slightly eccentric according to my vet!) trainer who occasionally delivers the unexpected. Kennel Hill was brought down at Cheltenham in October, when in with every chance, so I am hoping this race will be less fraught with problems.
My bets
All e/w
Panjo Bere
Moleskin
Nacarat
Richard's Sundance
Dancing Mist
Kennel Hill

when was the last time that we had a competitive chase paul nicholls ran two horses and they were the two outsiders?
It is very rare with a competive chase not to see a pn runner in the first three in the betting.
Now TM has bags of weight and despite winning last time out was not the horse he was last season. However his presence allows imissingtheblues to get in off a nice weight. A reasonable run last season and if Ruby was fit he would surely have ridden him. Ruby on board the horse goes off 5 or 6 to 1. CW is a good jockey and the horse rates a great ew chance to me.

I ve just reread this and it is awful but i am doing it on my mobile so is hard edit.
I also meant to add the imtb was second over further to deep purple last seaon which reads well following that ones win in the charlie hall. The ground is a doubt but as he stays a bit further than this he might get away with it.

Yep, a real drifter and ran accordingly. Good performance by Our Jonathon. Managed to get 15/1 and 25/1 on Advanced and Knot In Wood respectively.

True Decision has never raced over 10f before and might not get the trip but taken 17.0/4.9 on the chance that he can.

Well done to all those who backed Planet of Sound. Little bit annoyed with myself as I had it between him and Mahogany Blaze but the stable form of Hobbs' chasers made me sway towards the latter. I don't think Mahogany Blaze stayed the trip as he looked the winner two out and Paddy Brennan appeared to stop riding and get 3rd place taken away from him in the closing strides.
Regards.

Hmmm a bit poor for the rest of the day, although the long-priced place for Dancing Mist was OK!
Some good results on both Flat and Jumps, though - congrats all who made money (and enjoyed the racing!)
