Two Boxing legends collide! Only one can win!Calzaghe versus Jones on Saturday, any views?
I hope Joe can do himself proud and retire undefeated but it's a tough old game that boxing.

I would have been more interested if this had come together a few years ago, now, just all about self preservation and money.
Just cannot get really excited about it.
Hope JC wins of course.

JC should win this and then retire undefeated.
Famous last words and all that though..

If only this fight would have happened 8 years ago. Joe will probably win. Jones Jnr, only beat another shot figther in Tito. If this did happen a few years ago, Jones Jnr, would have won pretty easy. It's a shame Joe, waited till people were past their best, before he fought them.

Is this just on normal Setanta or is it pay per view as i will be up at that time anyway
|
FallonFacta

I'm sure it's just normal Setanta - they've been advertising all day and I've not seen a price mentioned.
I'm having an early night and setting the alarm

Roy Jones Jr is a very quick fighter, and might go hell for leather in the first few rounds, if Calzaghe can stay in it, i'd imagine from R5 onwards he'll start commanding the fight and i can see him knocking him out in the later rounds, maybe 10.

I don't think that is fair as all his career Joe has complained that the "big name" fighters deliberately avoided him as he was prepared to "Martini" fight them.I hope Joe wins well and retires and is not tempted to go for Marciano's record.
Good luck.

Had a small punt on Jones at 5/2 - seems too big a price to me - was reading one of the papers today, where they asked guys like Lennox Lewis, Ricky Hatton, De La Hoya, Hopkins etc, who would win, and the vote was 4 to 3 in favour of Jones Jnr - what the experts say contradicts the bookies prices.
Just a small punt mind, as in a way, i kind of hope i'm totally wrong!
Cheers

Was Michael Buffer trying to say Llanelli then?
Valiant effort but ultimately poor, must try harder.

Ioan Gruffudd in the crowd, getting very in to it. I loved Hornblower and "IS ANYBODY ALIVE OUT THERE" in Titanic, best part of the film imo.

Zab Judah was just as bad in the fight previous, would've been stopped here.

Did you read that article about the aussie stewards going nuts saying the stewards enquiry in Melbourne was like being on the end of a lecture as Aidan started every sentence with listen. Brought a smile to my face

Tad harsh, maybe. But Joe has never fought anybody, that good. Only RJJ & B-Hop, but they were both past their best. Joe, would never have beat a prime, Roy Jones Jnr. Joe, is still a great fighter though. He just never had that career defining fight.

The stats show Joe threw 985 punches to 475 by Jones Jnr and both had a similar success rate.
I just wish Joe retires now with the best record ever of any British fighter and does not run the risk of tarnishing this record in a pointless but moneyspinning rematch.
He has no more to prove and no-one of any stature left to fight.

Machiavellian

I'd selfishly like him to fight one last time at the Mill Stad as I'd like to go but I he should quit now, nothing left to prove.

Absolutely nothing to prove, will take his deserving place in the hall of fame. They'll not be a fighter of this calibre around for a good few years.
