Unmatched bets on BetfairI put a bet on this morning but I thought the price on Betfair was a bit stingy so I(only very slightly) asked for better odds. Now judging by the money in my account nobody took me up on the odds I wanted. Fair enough but shouldn't the bet come up in my unmatched bets?
I'm still very much a fixed odds man and don't fully understand the exchanges

It will probably show as a lapsed or voided bet.

Unmatched bets only show as such while the market is open. Once the race / match is complete and the market settled, these unmatched bets are cancelled, so won't appear as such. This way, your account balance doesn't have the liability for the bet anymore.

Thanks Alan 7 Sky. I'm sure I asked for the odds before I went to work(can't get on Betfair in the office) and thought I was going mad

Yes Jimbob - and I quite often select the "Take SP" option for unmatched bets, which may mean that you get worse odds, but at least the bet goes on if you don't happen to be at the PC at the right time. It really depends on your degree of confidence, though. If you really think the bet will come good, then "Take SP" is a decent option in those circumstances. If not, just select "cancel at in-play" to ensure that the bet is voided.
