There is a common english nine letter word, which if you remove a letter at a time, 8 times, still gives a proper word. What is that word.?

Easy it is from the book the Wandering Man,

The TINKER liked the open roads and scenery and drew pictures because he was a DRAWER, using charcoal, which he got from trees cut with his SAW.  He was laid back and didn't worry about TIME as he tripped along the roads in his Pony and TRAP.  He had a self imposed BAN on houses so dwelt outside under his favourite STAR.  Sorry Jenny if I have spoilt it for everybody.

1 B (anana)
2 D (resser)
3 G (rammar)
4 P (otato)
5 R (evive)
6 U (neven)
7 A (ssess)

Palindromic features?

The first time GR has typed seven consecutive words correctly?

Nearly there, now put the first letter at the end and reverse the word, voila, you have the same word.

Sorry

I spent so much time checking that sentence for fear of being pulled up on it. Silly really.

Anyway, I enjoyed the brain tease, so my thanks.
