I can't believe it - I'm actually excited a out the Leger. I enjoyed Lucarno last year but that race was a bunch of Cloggers.
Look Here (I've posted enough on her) and Frozen Fire (not sure ebough about him @5/2 on soft ground at this trip) are very obvious picks. I'll have to have the former - the Oaks form is pretty good, she'll probably stay and will enjoy the ground. And she's quick.
But that's no fun at all - picking out the top two in the market. If you think Alessandro Volta has a chance then Top Lock must be in with a better one given a line through King of Rome. He's well suited by Soft and has stayed very well over 12f so far this season. Furthermore, you can ignore his steady run at Goodwood - Balding said before the race that he wouldn't be suited by the track. Lacks the class/pace of the front two in the market but I'll give him a shout for some less obvious value, especially if the ground blunts the speed of the principals.
GS - Look Here
Soft or Softer - Look Here/Top Lock forecast
Won't get to post before Saturday, but good luck everyone.
Frozen Fire stays longer than the mother in law on Christmas day.
So is O`Brien lying ? The Irish Derby time wasnt exceptional, add to that the fact no winner of the Irish Derby has won the St Leger for almost 40 years. Also factor in the possible heavy ground and ask yourself if 9/4 is good value ?. _________________ If at first you dont succeed..then skydiving isnt for you

O'Brien says the same things every time. They love to make out all their horses may not stay further. THen when he wins the race he'll go on about the horse having "so much speed ya know" that they weren't sure he'd stay. FF will stay no problem and AoB knows it

A Doctor has steadily come from loitering on the edges to prominent in the market, basically a sustained plunge over a period of time with the finishing touches being applied with the 'so called' surprise jockey booking of Ryan Moore.......
4th in the Derby wins the Ledger (Look at Lucarno....)
Hope some of you have kept the faith in Doctor Freemantle......

I said after the Derby that he'd win the Leger but I've changed my mind. He won't!
Tends to pull and I can see also him being too fresh first time back off a long break. Don't think he'll get home. Plus he simply doesn't look all that good.

Given a couple of stinking rides - Stupid oz bloke had him with the choke out 4 wide round Tatty corner and there went my Look Here, Dr Freemantle retirement double...... still ran on again to chase the likes of New Approach (not exactly bad form).....
Seems a few glorified handicappers around in the betting that can surely be dismissed.......
Dr Fremantle has the ideal sort of breeding for a race like this, but he’s possibly not as effective on soft ground….and then there’s Reggae Mike’s record in the race……I was going to back him last week when it became evident that the conditions were turning against my original selection Savarain, but I’ve layed off him.
Having dismissed the Ballydoyle team in July, I’m now warming somewhat to Washington Irving given the ground being soft. He ran very well last time out against Mores Wells (subsequently 3rd in the Irish Champion Stakes), and having lost 2nd place a couple of furlongs from the finish, started to stay on again near the line and retook 2nd. The race time for the conditions (heavy) was very fast, so hopefully he’s fresh for this, as I think he’s now come into consideration as a potential winner and not just a place prospect. The step up in trip and ground conditions will most certainly suit him…It’s quite possible we’ll get a maiden winning a Classic.
If APoB has any worries about whether Frozen Fire will see out the trip, surely he’ll instruct his pacemakers not to go off too fast. A complete reversal of pace from the Irish Derby, may bring the horses prominent in the field back into play…….Washington Irving

No surprise to me and he could well get in the frame. Comfortably held by Look Here on her first run though (GS, 1 mile, Dr F 2 1/2 L down - his 2nd run too so no excuses). It's a long time ago but this form still puts her clear.

Steve Miller, in the Raceform Update, goes with Look Here based on pedigree and what she’s already achieved. Its seems a reasonable assessment, and he’s second guessing that Frozen Fire will stay the trip based on an expectation that Montjeu will be promoted to a chef-de-race in future, and add sufficient stamina points to the equation to bring Frozen Fire into the reckoning.
As the latest Turftrax going map from this morning shows that track to be soft, good to soft in places, I’ll stick with Washington Irving now, as stamina looks pretty much guaranteed and he’s proven in the conditions.
