In League 1 there's an important clash between two teams trying to get themselves out of the relegation places. Namely Brighton and Crewe. Ordinarily I would leave this match alone but Brighton have no manager and some injury worries and Crewe have won their last three games against opposition considerably higher in the table so seem to be on somewhat of a roll. Taking all this into account, I think the 11/4 Stan James are offering on a Crewe win is very generous indeed. By no means a cert but for all you value punters out there I don't think you'll find a better bet this week.

That is, indeed, the only bet I recommend to you all this week. The bookies seem to have most of the other games worked out especially(and oddly) the Scottish games. Usually you can find some value there if you look but not this week.

Bet this week is;

Crewe   11/4(Stan James)

Until next week folks...

No bets in League One this week so straight to League Two. A league that hasn't provided that many betting opportunities this season but there is one today in Exeter to beat Accrington Stanley. Totesport go 8/5 on this and that is a price well worth taking. Accrington have quite a few injuries and not a lot to play for. Exeter on the other hand, have a very real chance of automatic promotion and will want to continue the charge. Take the 8/5 people! You know it makes sense!

North of the border and a speculative punt on Arbroath today could prove lucrative. They are a better team than their position suggests and Raith have a lot of players out through injury or suspension. At the time of writing, Arbroath team news isn't available but I think a small bet on the home team at 12/5 with Bet365 is in order.

So they're the two bets I'd advise today people.

Exeter      8/5(Totesport)
Arbroath   12/5(Bet365)

Until next week folks...

This week there's some World Cup Qualifiers to get stuck into.

The only one involving the home nations I would advise a bet on is Northern Ireland vs Poland. Sorry to all the Northern Irish reading this but I have to call this to the Polish. As regular readers will know I think Poland are a very under rated team and remain under rated. They should be odds on in my opinion and are evens in places but you can get 6/5 with William Hill and that is a price well worth taking.

The other International I'd advise betting on is Montenegro vs Italy. Italy, at their awesome best are pretty much unbeatable. The problem is that there are two Italy teams that could turn up. One is breathtaking and the other... well... isn't. However, even if the wrong one turns up they should be able to manage a win against Montenegro. This will either be reasonably close or a rugby score but I can't see Italy not winning whatever. 7/10 with Paddy Power.

The only domestic game worth betting on today is the Scottish 2nd Division match between Brechin City and Arbroath. Arbroath are at the wrong end of the table but Brechin will be looking to keep their 3rd position safe. I think that the 5/6 Ladbrokes are offering on Brechin is well worth taking.

So that's your lot for this week folks. Good luck to all the home nations today

Bets are;

Poland  - 6/5
Italy     - 7/10
Brechin - 5/6

Until Next week folks

Jimbob

Punters minds are probably on a certain race taking place in Liverpool today but if I could just avert your attention for a moment and give you the football picks for today...

Peterborough will ned a win on the road to an Oldham side that can be quite handy if they are to keep the pressure up on Leicester. As I said Oldham can be pretty handy but Peterborough are a class above all but Leicester. Added to that the fact that Oldham have some injuries and Captain Sean Gregan is a "major doubt", I think the 6/4 offered on Posh from Totesport is well worth taking.

Up in Bonny Scotland and East Stirling are not the whipping boys they once were but Forfar simply must beat them if they want to stand a chance of getting in the play offs. Forfar have just come back off a solid 1-1 draw with my beloved Cowdenbeath who are by far the best team in the division(even if i do say so myself ) and have a half decent away record so I think 6/4 on Forfar to beat The Shire is a good bet.

Right that's your lot... well almost, The only non football tip I give on this column is on National Day. Please don't read too much into this but I reckon it'll be Butlers Cabin to give AP his first National win...

Bets this week are;

Peterborough - 6/4(Totesport)
Forfar - 6/4(Bet365)
Butlers Cabin in the National - 9/1(Ladbrokes)

Happy punting folks...

When it comes to this time in the season, there are an awful lot of teams with not a lot to play for. It is a very risky betting strategy to get involved with these games as they can either start playing amazing now the pressure is off, or just give up and play well under what they are capable of. Sometimes they can do one thing one week and the other the next.

That is why I only have one selection today with two teams that very definitely have something to play for.

Crewe vs Cheltenham is the game in question. If Cheltenham don't win this game they have a very good chance of going down. However, relegation is still a clear and present danger for Crewe but they're home form isn't actually too bad. Cheltenham's form is awful full stop and barring an extraordinary turn around in their fortunes and some pretty bizarre results elsewhere, they will be relegated this season and probably today I'm afraid to say. Never, in the clubs history have they won at Gresty Road and I don't expect that record to changetoday. For Cheltenham, relegation is inevitable. Crewe have a great chance of avoiding it but need to win games like this if they are going to. 4/5 with Totesport is a short price, but a fair one.

So in case you haven't read all that guff & just want to see who I'm tipping

Crewe-  4/5(Totesport)

Until next week folks...
