we can get girls aloud to do the music and then there can be no suggestion of lip-synching to pre-recorded stuff....

Katherine Jenkins should do the singing at our games

She's so ugly though that we'll have to get someone to mime in her place

I wasn't aware I WAS waggling my legs!.....it never even occurred to me to carp because Wales wasn't "represented" at ceremonies, parades and so on. The BBC, at least, did conscientiously mention when a competitor or medallist was from Wales, and we had our own very successful parade in Cardiff. I think you'd have to be a pretty rabid Welsh nationalist to carp at that aspect.

I recognise that it is probably only practical to have the games in London, because of the scale of the thing, and that if they were anywhere else in UK the same thing would apply (ie it would not be possible for everyone from everywhere to attend). At least London has the best transport links, so that if I do get a chance to go to an event or two, I can get there pretty easily, and so can others from around the country.

My reservations are much more about the amount of money that may be spent/wasted on opening and closing ceremonies and so on - also that I would like to be sure (and this is probably only provable over time) that the facilities built at such cost will actually provide benefits to the communities in which they are situated for the longer term. I do hope lessons have been learned from the Athens experience (several stadia now derelict).

My last carp (and this really is a carp, so I shall wiggle my legs/fins now!!) is that can we please use singers, groups, "celebrities" and orchestras that are (a) real and (b) representative of the best of British culture in all its aspects, not David Beckham looking lost, several boy bands who are SO nineties, darlings, and a load of cliches like London buses, phone boxes and taxis.

They had a Dr Who evening at the proms this year - could we bewilder the nations of the world by giving David Tennant a starring role.....??? I can see it now - the door of the Tardis opens, Dr Who appears dramatically backlit, he points his little electronic wotsit and LO! the Olympic flame lights up.....

Cant see why anybody from Wales & Scotland felt left out as Hugh Porter repeatedly refered to Nicole Cooke & Chris Hoy as being either Welsh or Scottish.

Next you will be having complaints about not refering to them having come from some city or town & it's inhabitants feeling left out! The fact that the local regions on the T.V. gave plenty coverage to local competators means they were catered for.

There is talk of the Opening or Closing of the London 2012 taking in the whole of London (not sure what they have planned yet!). At a guess this may be a plan to make the whole of London feel that they are part of the Games rather than just East London.

Sounds as if the are going to employ the system that they have at wimbledon regards tickets that aren't used where they are given back & resold to people who want to go but otherwise couldn't of have. Could be a good idea for for peolpe who want to go at the last minute to one of the main events.

Dear Lord, now they're talking about knocking down the Olympic stadium after the event.

I give up, I really do.

Good on that London couple that are willing to go to jail for not paying the £33 council tax bolt on to fund crap like that.
