She is just a kid playing tennis, but its a typical representation of 'British tennis', which IMO is laughable.

I dont know an awful lot about tennis but apart from Greg Rusedski im not sure who else is an adopted english tennis player. I know one has a strange surname but I always thought she was a thoroughbred English

It's elitist and how anyone can be shocked we haven't produced a champion in the last 30 years amazes me.

Its hardly ever taught properly in non-private schools, local facilities are either poor standard or over priced.

Havent we recently made giant strides in tennis acadamies? Maybe it will just take a while for the talent to filter through...

I do wish her all the luck as an individual, but as far as success is concerned, any for 'British tennis' would cloud a problem within the sport.

Shame she lost but considering her age and relative inexperience against an opponent who even tried to qualify for the womens draw rather than the juniors, a pretty creditable result.
