Not sure it will change that much, dirt will be back. The main swinger was pro ride for the likes of sixties icon and Ravens pass being targeted at the BC, as opposed to running on the dirt surely? Refreshing to see some young, seemingly astute trainers like Best and Beckett giving the US a go though
ATR microsite if you want the US pool results by the way
Dirt is on the way out in America, BC is at Santa Anita next year. Who knows what the situation will be come 2010, think it's at Churchill but A/W will win the day I think. After Barbaro and Eight Bells, the public just won't have it. _________________ This is like a flashback,

I'm surprised they didn't fine him for his flying dismount as well

Stewards take dim view of Dettori US celebration
FRANKIE DETTORI is facing a second potential fine, or even a suspension, from the Santa Anita stewards, after they took a dim view of the jockey throwing his whip into the air following Raven's Pass's victory in the Breeders' Cup.
Santa Anita steward Albert Christiansen said they would be looking into Dettori's celebration, having already fined the eight-time winning jockey $500 for failing to take up his remaining engagements on the card. Dettori was due to partner Master Daniel in the subsequent Damascus Stakes, but gave up the ride.
Christiansen said the whip had not hit any of the 11 Classic rivals, and landed 50 yards fromthe line, adding that he was uncertain whena decision regarding disciplinary action may be made.
"First time I've ever seen it," the steward said. "Why would he throw a $100 whip away? To tell you the truth, I don't know if he got it back or not."
Seems to be a lot of negativity about the synthetic surface from the American trainers. Nothing will change about next year's BC at Santa Anita but thereafter there will be a lot of pressure to keep it on dirt. Having said which, even the Americans will realise now that it wasn't much of a "World Championship" on dirt and if they go back to dirt all the time, the Europeans will always remind them of this year. Hopefully their commentators will also learn that O'Brien isn't from England.
Perhaps Sheikh No Sex on the Beach Please, should also look at putting the same surface down at Meydan, as the dirt at Nad Al Sheba has lots of kickback and is certainly more like dirt. It now looks like he was also responsible for shifting Jimmy Fortune and I hope people will lay off Gosden.
Conduit's win was good for Dalakhani at stud and in the sprinter debate I'm with creflow, not sure Europe's produced a really outstanding sprinter in a loooong time.
