I guess any 3/1 shot it vulnerable and I agree that he would be vulnerable in a 'normal' Grade 1 - he's probably nothing 'special' - but this is a crap Grade 1; Achill Island nearly won last year! Plus the best US horses are well adrift on RPRs and are all drawn really wide.

Anyway let's see; but I expect a GB/Irish win for sure. Not sure that Donativum really wants as far as a mile

Well I'm happy to have backed a horse at 3/1 who has been second behind the Dewhurst and Middle Park Winners and has subsequently beaten Stoute's best two year old this season. I look at Top Speeds and speed ratings and although I often view them as a good guide, they do not provide an exhaustive set of guidelines and don't always tell the full story in my opinion.

Like Owl, I don't particularly rate the US trained horses in this race as they generally have a policy of running their best 2 yr olds on the dirt and let the scraps run on the turf.

I don't think it's anything like the Rippling Ring scenario as I think Westphalia holds a favourites chance and is an excellent 3/1 chance. Surely being trained by arguably the best trainer with the best facilities in England in Ireland helps the horse progress further than they would if they were trained by Gary from Walthamstow in his white van which is obviously factored into the price.

Regards.

The biggest 2 horse race over the weekend, fair play to Frankie he out rode Johnny having ridden a shocker in the opener, but that's racing. The check and interference at such a crucial stage cost Westphalia at least half a length and ultimately the race in my view. Nonetheless, it was a good boost for Crowded House. A race like that falls on such tight margins and Frankie had the run of the race there.

Regards.

Really pisses me off that Nasri ran so badly today - I had a good bet on him TBP and having been 3rd to Crowded House and Donavitum last time he clearly is very good but had an off day today. I said he was a Group horse after he won a nursery off 83 and I'm sure he'll prove it next year
