Thanks Lenahan. That's a little skinny for me to get involved in at this stage.

I think so.  ED should be a good horse to rate around as AP thought he ran bang up to form - and he has beaten him out of sight.  That should get a high rating I would think.  Even NC in fourth gives it a cast iron look.  The handicappers were further back so no reason to crab the form at all.

I thought it was his best Gold Cup run and i was in the regressing camp   Very good run.

If that is the case then just how good could Denman still be if he gets over this last years setbacks 100 % and he still has time to peak before age gets him ? He was obviously so much better today than at Kempton but he still looked nothing like the Tank and yet still ran a great race and to within a few lenths of Kauto.

I think its fair to say Kauto didnt run quite so well last year because there was so much pressure put on him with the relentless gallop set by denman. There were other factors at play as well but Denman stretching him beyond limit was the main one imo.

I know 10 yr olds dont really win the gold cup but i could see Denman coming back next year to do it and breaking that same stat kauto has just broken.

Denman should be there. Kauto should be there. Lots of very good youngsters. Should make a great race.

Its such a shame we didnt have a top shape Denman there this year to provide that clash of the titans. It was perfectly fair conditions for both of them today. The type of ground where if both were in tip top shape you could get some definate final answer as to the better horse. I like them both immensly.

It looked it. Again, I wish we had sectional times as it appears that this was a similar time to his first win. He certainly travelled much better this year.
