Hmmm, I'm not altogether convinced that James Willoughby knows what he's talking about, at least in this regard. He's given some pretty odd/peculiar opinions before, and I'm certainly not against looking at things from a different angle, but I forget what it was about now, but one of his "op ed" articles back end of last year said something really rather sillly (and I stupidly can't remember what it was so I join the club!   )

The Foxhunter was run in a time well over 2mins slower than the Gold Cup....which rather argues that a Gold Cup next year for Cappa Bleu isn't a realistic option - might be the year after, though, when he will be 9. And of course, you never know, but if I were the Ruckers, I wouldn't be sending him to Evan Williams.

According to the RP Cappa Bleu carried 12st and did the course in 6m54s, Kauto carried 11st10lb and did the course in 6m45s. Using those figures he's not far off Gold Cup class, it's silly to translate form like this but he'd probably come about 8/9th in the gold cup at a guess.

I don't think he's going to trouble the top, top chasers but if he's got a decent handicap mark he could be a great bet in the Hennessy.

Reading the list we made last season, its striking how few made it to Cheltenham, let alone won.

I agree about James Willoughby. I think he's a very overrated analyst.
