I'd love to be offered a knighthood so I could send a very dismissive letter back telling them exactly why I wouldn't be buying in to the sham.

Its now 9/4 Button, 3/1 Ennis, 4/1 Murray, 5/1 Freddie...

I know which one I'd rather take out for dinner but I reckon Jenson is more likely to win the money to pay for the meal than Jessica...

If you took Freddie out for dinner you would need  plenty of beer money!

F1 does have a very big following & it would be no surprise if Button won the vote.

Cricket has mass appeal but if England get beaten in the series then the heroics of Cardiff & Lords will soon be forgotten.

Freddie has already won SPOTY in 2005 & there's no history of anyone doing it twice!

Not sure about Sir A Flintoff, that might come after his playing days are over. I don't think anyone has received a Knighthood while still playing.

F1 is about an individual 9the driver) rather than the team, for awards like this, plusthe f1 public will be mad keen to vote for their guy so button 9as long as his car gets working again) is still a big favourite

as for winning it twice, it hads been done; 3 times. henry cooper did it in the days when boxing was all over the bbc, and two more people; damon hill and nigel mansell.... spot the sport.

Never to early to look for value ,Jenson Button was 5s with lads yesterday,he has been cut to 7/4 for back to back FI wins after stating there is more to come from the Brawn car which carried him to victory in Australia.
If he wins in Malaysia on Sunday ,his price will go down faster than a banker in a sut on the London undergound on G20 summit day .get on early great back to lay material ,YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE

Must be odds on now

i often have a bet on the night. The way and order that the bbc present each contenders part. I can see the bbc going bigger om our first heavyweight champion than on back to back british f1 champions. What odds on them having a cardboard cut out of valuev in the studio. The year calzage won i said he or hatton would win because they did such a big piece on boxing.

Haye is a better bet at the odds at the moment especially as there is another boxer to compete with unlike when calzage won it.

However freddie is 10-1 to finish in the top 3 which is great value. Again it will all be about the emphasis of the cricket coverage and who of him and strauss gets more air time. Strauss will of course be in SA but if Freddie is live in the studio he will get more air time and is more likely to take the cricket votes.

Exactly what personality. It is a weird award and usualyy has only part to do with achievment anyway.

My choice is definetly Haye as it is a popular sport and he has a little charisma the face for it.  Will get the housewives vote etc.

Much as Haye's win was special it was only one performance in the year.

If you went on that basis even Beth Tweddle would get lots of votes! (Housewives, preteenage & over, girls votes!!   ). Also it was shown live on the BBC!!

Button is the most likely winner for performances over the course of the year
