Not a bad buy for UTD if they look on him as filling in when needed. Not a good buy if they want to start him every game.

no-one starts every game for Man U

they at least will have him making an effort.

Tevez and Ronaldo going, others turning them down he's cover for rooney and berbatov.

and he and alex can talk racing

For Liverpool fans, I bet Owen to Everton doesn't seem as bad now.

hello AL
may i ask why why you say he wont be a good buy to start every game

i remenber chatting to sky one early drunken morning about how the opposition often came to old trafford to play and how often they set up 11 behind the ball
is that not the type of game that mickey owen thrives on
on the shoulder of the defender running on to a throu ball and bang in the net
imo the quality of ball mickey owen will recieve at utd will be different class to hes prevoius clubs and fancy he will score a bagful
cheers archie

Who starts every game for United anyway? Not even Van Der Sar.

I think Owen will prove a good buy for United, I bet all them injury
problems he had suddenly disappear!

As a few have stated the quality of service he will receive at United will guarantee him 5 or 6 chances a game and he still knows how to stick in the onion bag!!

Fergie should of also got Hunterlaar as part of the Ronaldo transfer, as still a striker light I believe.

Liverpool all used to realise that his greater priority was NOT his club but his country.

Coming up to World Cup year, I think this will prove to be a very clever move from Fergie. Owen will play like a demon this season cos he'll be at a top club with the World Cup just around the corner.

And Fergie won't be daft enough to offer him a ridiculous contract. May even be a 2 year less salary job.

Took 40/1 on Owen top-scorer today with a view to trade. He's still Michael Owen no matter what all the tosh that is written about him says.

Archie, he wont stay fit enough to play every game. Utd will use him to fill gaps and no more than that. Its a good move for owen, probably due to the sill tranfer prices asked whenever UTD or Chelsea try to buy a player.

and has never, ever, ever not ever i his career scored 20 league goals in a season

not a cats chance in a swimming pool of being top scorer

as you rightly say "he is still ichael Owen" still a country before club player, still not a 20 goals a season man and still injury prone

you would ave been better off backing hitler to make chief rabbii.

We'll see, a rejuvinated Michael Owen will be one of the best strikers in the premiership, just because he didn't pull his weight at Newcastle doesn't mean he's become a dismal player, his record speaks for itself and will be laying when he's a much shorter price having banged 'em in for a proper football team.

I think it's a great buy for Utd. I can't see a better last 20 minute player than him, I reckon they'll use him sparingly along with the reserves in the cup games and as I've said the last 20 minutes when they need a result. They still need another striker, a decent creative midfielder and another winger.

If he can stay fit and he's retained half his ability of a few years ago then he'll get a hatful of goals.

I think it's a wise move by Sir Alex on many different levels. He has International and European pedigree and has played with Rooney before and I'm sure Owen will still be as hungry as ever especially now he's playing in one of the big european clubs.

I'm looking forward to see him play.
