yes, ona a par with kurt cobain. over-rated and dead.
best dancer of the lot mind. |
Thriller - Biggest selling album ever!
Over-rated???? |
If it wasn't in the 60's or 70's, it doesn't count.
Also, anyone who thinks Kurt Cobain wasn't important obviously didn't 'get' it at the time. It is definitely a generational thing.

I've never really been a fan of him or his music but I'm saddened to hear of his death.
We're never going to know for sure but I don't think he ever harmed a child.
RIP Michael

The greatest dancer since Astaire. The not in thetop ten of greatest singers in the world but he sure could sing! He was an all round entertainer and one of the very best! RIP Michael. This just in...
Due to the fact that MJ is 99% plastic it has been decided that instead of being cremated he will be melted into lego so children can play with him for a change.

MT... if you haven't been able to 2get" WElvis the trick is to listen to the stuff that was in the charts before heartbreak hotel and comapre; also listen to Mystery Train and his other really early Sun records; he was destroyed by terrible management for years and years (5 movies a year? blue hawaii? do me a favour) but came back at the later end of his life with wonderful records like American Trilogy, Suspicious Minds and so on

Have listened to quite a few Elvis albums over the years, early and late, but just isnt my cup of tea. Suppose it is about taste more than generational as i love about 95% of all that the Beatles did but very little of the king. I do like a lot of the 60's and 70's music but my teenage music upbringing was in the 80's so that will always have a defining influence.
Michael Jackson has always been a massive artist throughout my life of listening to music and with his sales of records, massive fan base and iconic satus with albums and videos and having that continually spread over a couple of decades is no mean feat. Therefore i feel he has every right to be classed as an all time great along side others that have been mentioned.
I have never bought a MJ record or Album so will never class myself a fan but can appreciate all that he has achieved.
With regards Glitter, thought his music was awful and always will, but then again have never been a great fan of glam rock. I think it is sad that GG will always be remembered for his sick and twisted life after music than what he did on stage. Whereas with MJ, it will always be mentioned but wont overshadow his music career as he produced some very good stuff and that is where GG falls down.
All about taste and opinions and a bit of generation thrown in GR
MT jnr
ps my favourites are The Jam, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and Buddy Holly. Diverse i know _________________ THERE ARE 2 RULES TO SUCCESS. RULE 1)DONT TELL EVERYONE WHAT YOU KNOW |

And so the "mystery" begins...
Guardian
| Quote: | A doctor who has apparently gone missing after treating Michael Jackson before his sudden death is being sought by the Los Angeles police and coroner's office.
Police said they had impounded the doctor's car after it was left outside Jackson's rented Bel Air mansion. A police spokesman said they wanted to talk to the doctor because he had not signed a death certificate, which is normal procedure for an attending physician.
With an autopsy under way, speculation is mounting that the 50-year-old star's death may be linked to his longstanding use of painkillers. Family friends have confirmed he was taking drugs to help him deal with the physical stress of preparing for a major concert tour. Media reports have suggested a doctor injected him with a morphine-like drug a few hours before he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. |

Maybe I'm being thick, but if he was taken to hospital and received CPR in both the ambulance and at the hospital why would the physician who treated him at home sign the certificate?
I'm not saying there's nothing to investigate, it's just that I don't get that process... _________________ Greet people with four kisses - one for each cheek... Duke Ellington |

Heard that one at 9:30 this morning Along with the one about Gary Glitter taking over some of Michael Jacksons dates, but that was too poor taste.
