The Cheltenham Festival, always have that as one of my holiday weeks.  If I break even I feel that I have won, not a feeling that happens very often.

That doesn't seem quite the same as patriotic!

I've thought some more on it and decided there is actually no sport that makes me feel consistently patriotic.

Cricket? Most of the time but I'm very fond of New Zealand - last summer I was coming back from a day out with a friend (also big cricket fan)  listening to a NZ-England one day game, getting very excited by NZ's fightback. I'd dropped her off and was driving home and got the last 20 minutes. It was a thrilling game and I was cheering when New Zealand won.

Olympics? I have no interest in the majority of what happens there. Aside from the equestrian events, the only sport that I've been really gripped by is the rowing - mostly thanks to Steve Redgrave. I watched him in Atlanta and then stayed up all night to see him winning in Sydney. I've retained an interest since then and it was probably the only non-horse sport I made an actual effort to watch in Beijing.

Football? Definitely not. Except once back when I was at college during a World Cup and me and my housemates were totally gripped by Cameroon!

I think when I watch sports, I tend to just appreciate the participants regardless of where they're from.

With *some* exceptions

World Cup/Euros, not really bothered by other sports whether we win or lose, in other sports actually rarely support England as a National side as will normally be a foreign team i prefer for one reason or another, not much of a patriot.
