As it is I find it hard not to agree with Jack Straw for once _________________ You're born with nothing, and better off that way,

allthough i might agree with keeping him in,the man who was coshed died of leukemia and i dont think you can catch that from being coshed ,so it cant be classed as murder
never got back to work, never recovered from his injuries, though _________________ Geordie_R

Whilst I bow to your expertise on the law Geordie, I fail to see why the above statement is made, the man took part in a robbery, didn't kill anyone, but escaped from prison and hasn't said sorry. A cursory "I'm sorry" put as nicely as he could, would a false statement, like that ensure that he would be released. I bet you anything that he regrets what he did on hindsight, and why persecute this sad old reprobate who liked the showing off and the notoriety. _________________ WE ARE NOT STRANGERS, JUST FRIENDS WHO HAVE NEVER MET.

he continued (until he lost the power of speech) to glory in his crime, to criticise Jack Mills rather than sympathising with the widow and famly or apologising (NB his primary role in the robbery was to sort a replacement driver who turned out to be useless, and he then tried to get Mills to move the train. he wouldnt so someone coshed him)
he will be a form of hero if released (just like th erays woul have been).
he has served in total 10 of his 30. he wasnt sentenced for the absconding. he hasnt served his time.
why should we let him be used by his family and otehrs to generate cash on release? _________________ Geordie_R

I only ask as a by the way question, can't the condition of release be that if he or his family make money because of his crime then that money can be taken and given to Jack Mills's family? _________________ WE ARE NOT STRANGERS, JUST FRIENDS WHO HAVE NEVER MET.
Can't see how this decision is consistent with the decision to free members of the IRA and other terrorists groups most of whom were mass murderers.
Ok Biggs has shown no remorse, but neither did they.
HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POLITICAL CRIMES (REMOVING OR ATTEPTIG TO REMOVE ANOCCUPYING FORCE AS THE rEPUBLICANS SAW IT) AND COSHING A DRIVER AND STELAING £2MILLION
sorry...caps _________________ Geordie_R

Yes there is a difference. One group killed hundreds of innocent people, the other didn't kill anyone.
sorry...caps

Are you suggesting that political terrorists have a license to kill then? _________________ Not as naive as some, but happy.
The british government tacitly (and quite rightly in my opinion) recognized the political status of IRA prisoners and they were therefore released when their group comitted to peace.
What this has to do with Ronnie Biggs is beyond my comprehension.

Makes no difference to me. They were killers. For instance they killed two kids under 10 in Warrington one Saturday afternoon. What did they have to do with politics? Biggs killed no one. I think Biggs should stay where he is, but the murdering terrorist scum who cowardly killed innocent people should rot in hell as well.
