I really really REALLY try to stay out of the boring Everton/Liverpool type stuff, but this is the only part of the Liverpool side of things that really gets my goat.
I admire the fact that football fans stick together, in fact its kind of tribal. However, there are scum supporting every club and they should be called out as such. Some may even be attempted murderers. The fact is (I say it yet again), someone's head got caved in with a paving slab.
A follower of Liverpool Football Club did it. Yet that is glossed over because 'he's a red'.
It makes me sick. Liverpool, as a football club, should know better.

Get the sick bag out, he did thank Everton fans for their support as well as Liverpool's supporters.

As a LFC fan, but no longer resident in the city I find this all quite weird. As you say, someone chose to aim a concrete slab at someone's head and were quite likely wearing a LFC shirt. How is justice ever to be served?

You're sounding bitter now Darren....
No one wants Sankey to get away with it just like no one wants an innocent man locked up.
A miscarriage of justice righted is a cause for celebration.
Equally, Gorgiev is an innocent victim, a victim of mindless, boorish, drink fuelled violence caused by vermin which has become to much the norm on Saturday nights in any town or city in Britain, holidays on the costa and football trips abroad etc.
He hasn't been let down by the British government though but he has been let down by the rush of his own native Bulgarian kangaroo court and the police who were in a rush to pin it on the first suspect they could find. |

Bitter about the world we live in, or bitter about Liverpool? I assume you mean LFC. What I was struggling to get my head around was the 'celebrity' side of things that seem to be happening to him now.
I have long since realised there is no point continuing the endless tedium about Everton and Liverpool, and trying to get one over, etc. I thought my posts on this thread were reasonably restrained, and ones that you would struggle to find on most Everton forums I have seen this discussed on, most of which are disgusting.
Apologies if it didn't come across that way.

Good post ,we do have miscarriages of Justice and this was one of them.
The case was rushed to trial with indecent and seemingly with enormous xenophobic prejudice.
A local man had been injured by a foreigner,a foreigner must be punished and it didnt matter who ,as long as someone was behind bars for it.
That someone was sadly Michael Shields not the real culprit Graham Sankey!

If Shields didn't do it (and that is still a huge IF in my opinion) there are 10s, maybe 100s, of people in the Liverpool area that were there that night who know damn well who smashed the innocent bar worker over the head.
Why hasn't someone come forward?
