in any event,

a solicitor will not (unless they are aft, or you are a reguular client) usually complete a house purchase unless they are in sufficient funds to complete teh tranaction including all costs and stamp duty if payable.

Most tradesmen i deal with are expecting payment on teh day unless they are repeat providers of a service

i have never tried leaving my name and address at a restaurant or a shop and said send the bill on i will pay in a month

i suspect i might find the response short and sharp

Thanks all. It makes sense, I was just surprised at the speed of which I needed to find 3 grand.

Anyway, I am off to McDonalds to order everything on the menu and give a false address.

Doesn't mean all my assets are liquid

It is all tied up in special staff cash rates of 87% a year.
