I must say I do like American Country,
Vince Gill and the real nashville stuff,
An irish singer called Declan O' Rourke
is also good. I like Classical music too
that's what age does to you, and I find
it quite soothing and mellow,
When you find the majority of modern music
is too loud, you know you are changing status.

Hi Quizman
I have just noted that you are from Tipperary i have stayed there three times.
1st /2nd time i stayed in the caravan site just up the hill from Tipperary
3rd time we stayed there was in the Guarda house jusy out side Tipp B&b as we were across for a weekend of racing
Do you go to the racing Tipp a lot as you have a great race course there.
I am hoping to get across to you neck of the wood again later on in the year if i do i will give you a shout.

Oasis at Maine Road and at Knebworth. Brilliant!

I'm going to see The Kooks at Rock City in Nottingham at the end of next month.

The last gig I went to was The Eagles at their Hell Freezes Over tour.
Went to loads of gigs in the 80s, very few in the 90s and none so far in the 00s.
The best (You youngsters will not remember any of these):
New Order - One of the 1st gigs after Ian Curtis died, SFX hall, Dublin, played for 40 mins, never spoke, was the most intense gig I've ever been to.
The Undertones (Ulster Hall 1979 - 13, first ever gig)
Stiff Little Fingers
Boomtown Rats (Ulster Hall - Someones Lookin at You tour)
Cocteau Twins (Nearly a riot at it, they walked off after 40 mins, there was chairs, bottles being thrown at the stage, we were in the balcony, smoking a joint laughing our faces off)
The Fall (Queens S.U. - dropped what we thought were Magic Mushrooms and spent the whole gig looking round us, waiting to see things ended up laughing hysterically for some reason!)
The Waterboys
David Bowie (Slane - brilliant, never danced as much in my life)
The Blue Nile

The worst:
The Human League (Mainly cos I went on my own, 14 and I had never seen as many gay people in my life - I was completey terrified, went home early!)
Sade (So dull!)

I've not been to Rock City for years! It was the place to go when we were all at sixth form so it will be like a blast from the past to go back there.

I love The Kooks though and I'm really looking forward to it.

I got thrown out of a Hazel O'Connor gig for jumping onstage, putting my arm around her (more of a headlock actually!) and dancing with her.
I did it for a bet (£5 - was a fortune in them there days), but had to put up with being called Hazel for months afterwards.

Not gigs as such, but last year at Epsom evening meetings my bf and I saw Lemar and Ronan Keating - both fantastic, and last week we saw Texas there as well - again very very good.

Oh yeah I almost forgot, when I was hmmm 15 I think, I saw Wham! the final concert at Wembley. Elton John came on half way through and sang a few songs. Maybe it was because I was young, but it blew me away!

Johnnio,

As i`m a bit of a vintage punk rocker. How good was the Boomtown Rats ???? I would have loved to see them live. I play their CD quite often (I really like their "LOOKING OUT FOR NUMBER ONE" track), although i`ve the SEX PISTOLS playing at the moment .

Sorry Rapid, just seen this today. The Rats were absolutely phenomenal live, Geldof had sooo much energy in those days, he never stopped from start to finish, over two hours.
Went to my first gig in ten years on Saturday, Echo and the Bunnymen - they were absolutely brilliant, werent on for long enough though - about 1hour and 20 mins, and they didn't do "Over the Wall", which annoyed me a bit. It was like a real blast from the past, I saw so many people I hadn't seen since the mid-to-late 80s, they all looked really old - God knows what they thought of me!
