At a guess corned beef comes from ...Beef.

Andy Rocky Mountain Oysters are Calf Balls. I kid you not.

I haven't eaten meat or fish since I was 11. Don't think I was ever treated to corned beef though.

Why the need to know?!

Tags, i need some inspiration! Ive tried becoming veggie before, but i found it quite hard. I dont eat pork, lamb, sausages, burgars etc anyway, and as for these fast food outlets the thought makes me vomit. Im even going off chicken now! But i do eat some fish. What else can i have in my sandwishes apart from cheese?!

Melanie, my daily sandwiches are based around cheese- extras include marmite and the usual salad suspects. Other fillings I like are egg and banana (not together), but they get soggy quickly. I sometimes have pasta salad or those nice wraps (Mexican bean ones are good) you can buy. I am very fussy and have very simple tastes though- a child's palate really.

I've never liked any kind of meat (my mum said I wouldn't eat meat-flavoured baby food) and sardines on toast was the only fish I ate (probably the only thing I miss). It's a lot easier to sacrifice things you never liked in the first place!

I know from experience of the Nutron Diet which I found excellent,
it's Pork and Bacon products, fries, white bread and dairy produce
which puts on the pounds. Chicken Fish, fruit and Veg, loads of
water, homemade soup, seed bread(non Dairy)
Tuna is excellent, I lost 22lbs in 7 weeks, never put it back as
your stomach gets smaller and it takes less to fill you.
So many additives in foods and carry extra salt and sugar.
Exercise helps, a few miles walk keeps you toned up and is
good for your mental health.

I'll have to buy a veggie book and get some ideas! One sandwich i love is peanut butter and banana together, but a) quite fattening and b) bananas seem to upset my stomach which is a huge pity! I know im going to give otherhalf a headache because he does the cooking and he is a big meat eater, but he knows how fussy i am anyway. I wish i could just eat cakes and chocolate without worrying about weight, life would be so much easier!

Hi Melanie, dont worry about weight just enjoy the things you like.

No need to buy a book when you have the world at your fingertips I never run out of ideas/things to eat and of course it does help if you like Pasta & potatoes?

I grow alot of my own veg and herbs etc, so taste wise i never miss out and the things i cant grow i buy organic.

Anyway, i hope this helps you find some tasty treats you can enjoy

Thanks GP, i'll have a browse through this. Yes i love pasta and potatoes, and Tesco do some nice veggie stuff as well. It would just be so much easier if otherhalf was veggie too as he does the cooking - i have no interest in cooking at all, believe me if i lived on my own id live on beans on toast!

Amazing the amount of veggies on this forum!

We dine well here in Camelot, We eat Ham and Spam and Jam a lot!!!

Corned Beef is disgusting. I'm not strictly veggie but am pretty fussy about what meat I eat and Corned Beef is not something I would ever indulge in.

I still think Melanie it is derived from pork in some form,
probably the left overs from the swill :P

Definate nay for me.

I was a veggie for 10 years so I'm still pretty fussy about what meat I eat. Pretty much only chicken and pork and then it's got to be organic/free range.

And I'm not exactly sure what goes into corned beef but I'm pretty sure I don't want to - not if it's anything like that programme I saw where they showed you what goes into a hot dog........
