she is obviously not party to the information super highway. She doesn't answer her phone either..LOL

Glennie, odder and odder....as she's not far from R Lee I may perhaps just drop into the yard by chance when I go to visit - have to fill the day with productive activity!

take a look at this site

it is the national association and I cannot find Venetia Williams listed either under Herefordshire or under Williams. That is a bit odd isn't it?

here is Sam Thomas agent

http://www.racehorsetrainers.org/contacts/jockeydetail.asp?RecID=993

he probably has the number

The data search on both the NTF and BHB sites is very poor. They return "no information" far too often. I think the sites haven't got a decent search engine, or they are not properly updated.

Last thought of night.....can you all please think up questions you would like answered when I visit Richard Lee (the answers will probably be relevant to most trainers, so this is just a testing of the waters.)

Oh, and if we want to buy from the Flat, September/October is a good time to do it......

May be simple but how many runs are you looking at getting a season?

KK, early on I costed the trainng fees on the basis of 6 runs (which included transport in a single box for a round trip of 200 miles). That's the only way it can be done if there's a limited budget.

The advantage of Lee is that he charges "all-in" which I presume means as many runs as is reasonable, might be more than 6 might be less, depending. Question for when I go to the yard!

And I did build in, in my calculation of shares, a "cushion" - that is, a contingency fund for emergencies and unforeseens.

No trainer preference for me, although due to my location (Amsterdam) I would like to think that the trainer and / or racecourses where our horse might be running would be reasonable accessible.

I assume trainers generally place horses within a reasonable distance from the yard.

Thanks Sky - yes, a good location means not only that people can visit the yard easily, but also cuts down on travelling costs. This is a consideration. Will take into account!

Quite!

I will "express an interest" to Tom George, Kim Bailey (both Gloucestershire, where Bailey is moving), Alan King (Wiltshire) and Charlie Egerton (Berkshire). Richard Lee is of course still "on the books" and is further north than these, which might help some of our more northerly members.

North members, do you have any suggestions? Not too far North, please, unless you would like to do yard visits and report! (which might be fun.....)

Signing off now as otherwise horses, donkeys, geese, pigs, dog and cats will STARVE!!!

I`m not too bothered where the trainer is based. As long as the yard is reasonably accessible from the main motorways/roads and also some of the airports. Which brings me to another point, say Sky of Darkness, Toastie, A northern friend and myself were to fly into one of the airports, could we depend on some of you fine people to pick us up ????? Its just a thought at the minute, we (northerners) will probably end up driving.

Rapid, I am sure we will all pitch in to help with the "long travellers"! In my case, Cardiff is easy, Bristol reasonably - and depending on location of yard/meeting could also pick up at Birmingham. Others are a bit of a stretch

But I'm sure we'll work something out!
