I have learnt to take note of any entry in a classic from Oxx (actually,, thats a lie, I have been told by friends who know far more than me to take note of any entry in a classic trained by Oxx, especially if it is in Britain).
So Arch Swing, won a half decent maiden at The Curragh last August and then improved dramatically for the run and looked very impressive next time out winning a fillies only grp3 7f again at The Curragh, but she didn't just win, she cruised to the lead in superb style, and quickened away further with a f to go. Entered for both Guineas, hmmm I wonder....

she looks the business to me, still more to come i think

Thiella- Irish 1,000 Guineas
Uimhir a Haon- Epsom Oaks

I got the impression that the Oxx team were actually a bit dissapointed with Arch Swing yesterday, given how forward they had her.. personally, I am not that keen on her Guineas chances..

Mountain High - trained by Michael Stoute Mountain High is a very well bred sort who could mature into a high class sort. Last season mountain high ran at 1 mile 4 furlongs and run very nicely each time but i get the impression that he needs 1 mile 2 as he does not quite stay the extra distance. races like the eclispe and the irish champion stakes could be on the agenda for this late maturer.

cheers

Adds Phardy`s Post

Well I suppose that Newmarket has fuelled my enthusiasm for the flat so I have begun compiling my list of horses to follow.

As someone who does not back every day I prefer to follow horses throughout a season as it tends to stop me losing my money on a 6f handicap with 15 runners at some evening meeting on a course I have never heard of

So apart from the very obvious I have a few horses that I think will improve with age or still have some wins in them. I am not in-the-know so any information that you might have would be appreciated, plus feel free to add to my list..... Not looking for the obvious, but horses with scope! My new favourite sire appears to be Elnamid or Galileo, although there are still a lot of Danehill's on the full list, interestingly only one Rock Of Gibraltar!

ASSET
AUTHORIZED
CALDRA
CONQUEST
HAATEF
HONOURED GUEST
MAJOR CADEAUX
MOUNT NELSON
RED EVIE
SCRUMPTIOUS
SHUJOON
SIMPLY PERFECT
SOLDIER OF FORTUNE
SPINNING QUEEN
STRATEGIC PRINCE
WYETH
YOUMZAIN

If anyone wants my reasoning they are welcome to ask - otherwise please feel free to add your comments!

Thanks

This is who I will be following this season:

Youmzain- My older horse to follow, I think he has a group 1 in him over 10-12 furlongs and can only improve on his third in Dubai

Dutch Art- I think he is an absolute beauty of a horse. I think if all does not work out over a mile, I can see him being a very good sprinter, he has bags of speed.

Hamoody- I was watching the Breeze Ups on Racing UK last season and I watched this beautiful chesnut by Johannesburg go for 200,000 guineas and his looks were what got me and I thought from there on I will follow this horse through his career and will continue to do so this season.

Anton Chenkov- I think this could be O'Briens dark horse of his three year olds and his St Leger horse too.

Passage of Time- Great to see my favourite man in the flat racing game back with some Group level performers and this one is favourite for the Oaks and looks a very nice sort and will follow this one.

Adagio- After seeing Dutch Art fail today and Teofilo has problems, Adagio was awesome he really was on thursday and he would be my Guineas fancy at this moment in time and looks one to be on the right side of and open to bags of improvement.

Thousand Words- Really liked him last season when winning at Newmarket and he looks an out and out miler and may of needed a run after the Craven.

Visindar- Not seen since the Derby and could be one to follow out of the older horses and he and Youmzain are the two most interesting horses in training this season as 4 year olds. We have not seen the best of him yet.

Yamazaan- Really impressed with this horse last season and I do not know what it is about Galileo's but I love them and he is 33s for the Derby and would be my each way fancy for the race.

Counterpunch- Out of all the Godolphin horses, I liked this horse. Won very well at Newmarket twice and looks a horse who could start in valuable handicaps and turn into a group horse.

Mandesha- Awesome at Longchamp last season and by the way Soumillon celebrated, he rates her.

Authorized- I liked the manner of his win in the Racing Post Trophy and he is heading for the Dante and Chuckles told me to back him for the Derby before Newbury and I did not. He looks good and must have a chance if he wins his trial and I would have him as my winner for the 07 Derby at the moment.

Yeats- He will reign supreme in the staying division.

Rail Link- Arc winner. Looked very good and could well improve too this season. Will like to see where Fabre places him especially as he has Visindar too in the four year old division.

Dylan Thomas- Awesome a couple of weeks ago and he could be a Champion Stakes horse for Newmarket I reckon.

Asset- His win at Newmarket was really impressive I thought and I will be following him in the major sprints this season. Looked very good.

Alexandrova- I think she is so good she could win the Breeders Cup filly and mare turf, she is oh so good and I know I have Mandesha down as one to follow but Fallon got it all wrong on Arc day and I think if they met again, Alex will turn the tables.

I will also be following any horses by Galileo and Giants Causeway. And in maidens that will apply the same, anything by those two above I will follow.

king george winner imo.i was looking at his sections the other week in the sheema, top class ,averaged just under 12 secs for the last 4f,he really has got a finishing kick, sometimes horses appear to be finsihing fast, but are just taking over tired horses, but there is no doubting it with youmzain.

Rob really like Youmzain, massive fan of the horse as a lot of people know on here. And he is my older horse to follow, do you seriously think he has a live chance in the King George, i don't know if he could win a KG but each way claims for sure and could be a big price with all those big players who would be ahead of him in the betting.

However out of all those, apart from Youmzain as my horse to follow. Look out for a Godolphin horse called COUNTERPUNCH. Looked very good last season in handicaps and may be one of those where he remains in that company before slowly going up into group class, he could be like a Group 3 or even 2 horse. The Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot or the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood could well be an option, dont know if Gordon Stakes is 3 years old only if so he is four so would not run but a race like that he could easily develope into a listed/group 3 or 2 horse. Looked very good last season.

Dylan Thomas vs Youzmain: i reckon one of these will almost certainly win the KG.

I would love to see Youmzain win the KG as I love the horse to bits. But as much as I love him to bits I just dont know if he would win a KG? I will back him for it like i will in every race he runs this season.

you have to appreciate how much of a pace bias he was up against in dubai.i would have him over sir percy, and i remember backing him at 130-1 about a month before the derby, only for his stupid owner to overule mick channon and not go there and on the formlines with sir percy and dylan thomas,he would of been there abouts.it may be a blessing in disguise that he had different prepaartion, but at this stage,i couldnt think of a more likely candidate for the king george and qe2.

TTT with you all the way about Hamoody, but please let the trainer get with the programme and drop him back to the sprint distances and let him kick on. He really is the most outstanding looking creature and definitely one to follow to the racetrack this season.

My heart belongs to Sir Percy, but my head is telling me that he is inclined to problems and will probably find a few too strong for him this season. But then I never listen to my head

I have a Coolmore prejudice I am afraid but Dylan Thomas won me over last weekend. He looks superb and it will be a very special animal that can run with him this summer I think. If his connections can manage to enter him for the right Breeders Cup race his year you'd have to fancy him strongly (as you would the Arc).

I followed Speciosa last year and I was pleased with her run on Thursday. I think she will be well able for her own sex this year and it will be interesting to see her programme.

And I am still waiting for a nice two-year old to follow

I will be adding Red Gala and Diamond Tycoon after yesterdays racing... and placing a question mark over Silk Blossom who ran very flat.

Also with a question mark Halicarnasus if he runs over 1m plus.

For reasonings see my post on Saturday's racing thread!

"Dandy Man" easily won a listed race on good ground at Naas at the weekend. He may have come on a lot from last year and be challenging for group sprinting honours.
