Not that I really give a monkeys but how come DT is a shorter price than Notnowcato?

What's the head to head score over 10 furlongs? Anyone know as I can't be arsed to look it up.

My faint recollection is that NNC has beaten DT at least twice...

?????????

Ground conditions, DT is an automatic lay when you see soft in the going description, NNC acts on all types of going !!!! The last time was the tats gold cup where I think it was good-soft (off the top of my head) and NNC had the beating of him.

I dont see how it could have been an "unfair competition" in the King George because of the weight.

If the weights in the King George were so unfair towards older horses, then why do 3yos hardly run in the race anymore? Surely every half decent 3yo colt would run in it if they had a huge advantage!!

In my opinion, both are better over 12f so a 12f race (regardless of weight for age) between would be more attractive. I really dont believe that 1 or 2 lbs here or there makes that much of a difference anyway, but that is another debate.

As for the Duke, he needs a step up in trip. How good is he at 10f? Nobody knows, which to me makes it interesting.

So is DoM an intriguing dark horse, crying out for this trip who could spring a surprise, or is he indeed chucked in as a pacemaker? It's situations like this that made me wish we did have a rule whereby pacemakers are declared- punters are the losers here.

D of M for me. Looks like AOB will run a third horse to ensure a good pace. Lets hope its 'Good' grond so that nothing has an excuse. Should be a corker. Off work next week so might pop along.

Agree that Duke of Marmalade is a very interesting contender (even at this late hour of the night!!!).. horse that is crying out for 10 furlongs in my opinion..

As for the pacemaker, I have a sneaking suspicion that Coolmore will use Mountain High to set a strong gallop.. less obvious choice after a few blatant Ballydoyle pacemakers (most notably at Goodwood) have really failed to serve their purpose lately..

O'Brien will no doubt force the pace with one of his horses..and no reason why he shouldn't do that with Dylan Thomas, as the trip may be on the short side of his best distance.

A big surprise though may be sprung by Song of Hiawatha...200/1 in the bookies and a confirmed runner. Realistically he should be the pacemaker and would be expected to fold at the business end of the race, but this has the feel of an Irish Derby about it where O'Brien regularly gets a big priced horse in the places....shame there's only 7 runners mind, but its worth bearing in mind that this horse is a half brother to Landseer and Ikhtyar, both of whom earned 120+ ratings.

Still not made up my mind on this, may depend on how the ground is on the day. I reckon Dylan Thomas and Authorized are best over a mile and a half but I still think one of them will win.

Maybe it will come down to the jockeys. Dettori and Murtagh are both on top form and extremely effective at York.

If it turns up good-soft then you've got to be against Dylan Thomas !!!

Agreed, softer ground would work in Authorised and Notnowcato's favour. I know there was some rain in York over the weekend but the forecast is OK today and meant to be better over the week. Wish I had a better idea how the Knavesmire is draining these days!

Is that a hint?!

It's cold and windy and cloudy - but no rain since yesterday.
