I have recently got into the Greyhounds in the last year and this will be my first time watching the Derby in detail. The heats start tonight and can be watched on 212 - Information TV.

William Hill are doing a decent offer - if your dog goes out in the first round you get a free bet in the next round for the same stake.

Last years winner Salad Dodger has been pretty poor since his win and seems to have taken a backward step but he can't be ignored round Wimbledon.

One of the favourites Newinn Yolo has a really tough draw in the first round against the very impressive Ballymac Brogan and I can see one of these going out early

As always you have to back quite a few in the Derby to stand a chance and i've gone for the following

Sidarian Blaze e/w @ 28/1
Gaytime Hawk e/w @ 66/1
Southfield Jock e/w @ 66/1
Mashmad Blackie e/w @ 100/1
Salad Dodger e/w @ 100/1
King Dec e/w @ 125/1
Glenpadden Bolt e/w @ 200/1
Honest John e/w @ 200/1

I really like Sidarian Blaze who is a big strong dog and finishes his races out really well which helps when you need to get through a few races to get to a final.

Mashmad Blackie is really well thought of and produced some good displays in Ireland and I know his trainer rates him really highly.

I watched Glenpadded Bolt in his trial the other week and while his time wasn't that fast, the way he won after hitting a bit trouble but standing his ground and pushing through made me think Wimbledon will really suit.

Those 3 are the one's I really like, the other 5 are more in hope. But either way, as long as one of them wins i'm in decent profit!

Farloe Blitz ran a decent race last night and set a pretty good time, Rio Quattro also won his race and beat the well fancied Crokers Champ. Newinn Yolo and King Dec were the two stand outs from last night for me though!

Yes S84 great tipping but still a job to do ,not over till the fat lady sings.
Owen McKennas three year old dog has taken to Wimbledon like a duck to water.Farloe Blitz came ober from Ireland and won every spin around Plough Lane so far.
Even in Saturdays semi final he was drawn outside of Rio Quattro but still managed to show his blistering pace winning easily.
He faces Rio Quattro again in the final as well as other danger Eden the Kid and once again is housed in the two trap with Quattro inside of him.
but if Farloe pings the lids reckon it will be all over.
He has yet to blow a start recording 4.74.4.67 .4.74 .4.76 and 4.72 and if doing so again on Saturday then cant see him having trouble bagging his favoured inside rail and leading all the way

Farloe Blitz will have to break fast tonight, as there is plenty of pace about. Making Paper has both speed an stamina and could go well if hitting the bend first from trap three. Millwards Davy has been the fairytale story, having started at 1,250 /1 rank outsider. This brings back memories as back in the days when bookies took a gamble, most no-hopers were 1,000/1 and I would back five or even 10 e/w for 1 or 50p. It used to be quarter the odds first four with the odd bookie paying first six !!

My selection will come as a shock but I am picking the second outsider, Tynwald Bish, the only true wide runner left and drawn in trap six. This is another with blistering early pace who could well get clear at the bend, the 12/1 looks massive, my only worry is he does seem to fade so I am praying he pings the lids.

Rio Quattro wins the Derby. Farloe Blitz led but weakened into fourth, Making Paper finished late to force a photo with Tynwald Bish.

1st Rio Quattro
2nd Tynwald Bish
3rd Making Paper

I thought when Blitz got out the writing was on the wall, but with Quattro in his slipstream who we know stays further, he powered past him in impressive style. Shocked Blitz came 4th though, not sure he ran his race. Really good derby final though.
