A tournament that regularly throws up big priced winners and placed ones as well. To that end I have gone for:-
1pt. win Matsuyama 12/1
1pt. EW Koepka 25/1 (
1pt. EW Grace 60/1 (
0.5pt. EW Schauffele 100/1 (10)
0.5pt. EW Woodland 125/1 (6)
0.5pt. EW Olesen 200/1 (
0.5pt. EW Streb 250/1 (10)
0.5pt. EW Swafford 250/1 (

Funny how I couldn't watch the Open on the BBC but we can watch this one via the red button.

Usual duo, Mickleson and Garcia each way plus a sort of mixed yankee based on regions. With golf, bit like my football bets and sometimes my racing bets, seem to stick to the same selections in the face of logic against them.

As ex poster Steve Mac said to me Sunday, the writing has been on the wall for me and KJ Choi for last few years so pleased in a way he has not qualified. One of the better players, during a purple patch, not to win a major.

Think Zach Johnson might be the one and dare I say it but Rory has to be given a shot considering his course form.

Couple of outsiders.

I have an irrational dislike of Jordan (plays way too slowly) and Rory (IMHO a spoilt child). This will, of course, cost me money in golf betting terms but here goes

JohnRahm  25/1

Paul Casey 40/1

Justin Rose 40/1

JB Holmes 80/1

Ian Poulter 90/1

Y E Yang 500/1

all e/w 8 places 1/5 on sportsbook
Yang to pennies....

Fair start for three of mine, just hope they can keep it going.

Casey and rahm doing OK for me

Poulter and Holmes need a decent score today; Yang was a daft punt anyway and I am hoping Justin Rose can produce a 67!

Apart from Matsuyama my lot seem to have fallen apart.
Two missed the cut so I have six for the weekend.

All my bets are down other than a small bet on Fowler at 16s.

Casey was holding my interest until his last 3 holes

I played the last 3 in 2 under (with my handicap) on Saturday morning. Not, Paul, 4 over.....

Well no luck this time.
Watching on the red button the commentators kept apologising for the coverage, as the BBC had no control over it, and it was pretty poor. However they do have control over the people who commentate and as much as it pains me to say it as I have been a long time fan, Peter Allis needs to be put out to grass. It was just embarrassing listening to him.

Felt some years back this once great commentator should have retired. I do not know the mechanics of how BBC won the rights and whilst good to have no adverts, their coverage did not feel right, somewhat artificial. Winning rights to a major too then putting coverage on red button was not ideal but understand reasons why with athletics coverage.

I don't understand it

They have BBC1, 2 and 4.

They could move other things around.

Athletics on 1 and golf on 2. What would be missed? Pointless Celebrities and Songs of Praise? put them on the red button.
Allis is a disgrace now. He is just beyond belief. Should have gone years ago...and yet he is still better than Mark James.

I thought that myself but viewing figures would sadly suggest the usual stuff wins out. Just seemed off for them to win it then not exploit.

Did not want them to lose " I know who you are" on BBC4. One for the best shows of recent time of its genre on tv for me.

If you liked Broadhurch series 1 this was up there . if you liked 2 and 3, which I did not, its really up there and beyond.
